Call to Action

We are the Midwest SOARRING Foundation and our name identifies our purpose - Save Our Ancestor's Remains & Resources Indigenous Network Group.  As Indigenous people we are continually working toward the protection of our way of life.  We do this to protect our children's future and to insure our ancestors truly do rest in peace.  Our mission is to promote community building among all people by educating the public about important Indigenous issues.  We have accomplished a great deal by working together and we encourage all members and guest to be proactive and get involved in the issues below:

Save Banner Marsch Area

Midwest SOARRING Foundation will join Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and many other activists to save land in the Banner Marsh area from being strip mined.  We need everyone to sign the online petiton to keep this beautiful and pristine area just the way it is!  http://www.state.il.us/ltgov/PlumIsland/savebanner.htm

NORTH

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

No one voted on Election Day to destroy the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  But President Bush is now claiming a mandate to do exactly that.

Congressional leaders are pushing for a quick vote that would turn America's greatest sanctuary for Arctic wildlife into a vast, polluted oil field.  Even worse, they are planning to avoid public debate on this devastating measure by hiding it in a must-pass budget bill.

Please go to http://www.savebiogems.org/arctic/takeaction.asp?ms=RR0501 right now and send a message telling your U.S. senators and representative to reject this sneak attack on the Arctic Refuge.  And please forward my message to your friends, family and colleagues.  We must mobilize millions of Americans in opposition as quickly as possible.   (This is part of the message from Robert Redford about the Arctic Refuge)  Please go to the website and take action.  Thank you!

Sacred Peaks Face Possible Harm

The Midwest SOARRING Foundation would like to bring attention to the possible descration of this sacred site.  The San Francisco Peaks, in Arizona, are an integral cultural resource for over 13 nations located throughout the southwest region.  Indigenous nations continue to utilize this mountain for spiritual strength and guidance.  We will continue to keep the SOARRING members and general public updated on this important issue.  SOARRING understands that sacred sites are at the core of an individual's religious belief and vital to the cultural health of Indigenous nations.  Contamination at any level to the spiritual well-being of any religious group cannot be tolerated especially when the reason is for economic or recreational purposes.
